Traces of a powerful synthetic opioid have been detected in heroin samples related to overdoses in Dublin city in recent days. Fifty-seven people have overdosed in the city centre area since last Thursday, the HSE confirmed yesterday. No deaths have been reported. A trace amount of a nitazene-type substance was identified in a brown powder analysed by Forensic Science Ireland last week, prompting the HSE to issue a warning....

Irish Times, 26 November - New synthetic drug, stronger than fentanyl, linked to recent Dublin overdoses - further testing has identified the nitazene specifically as “N-Pyrrolidino Protonitazene”. It is the first time the substance has been identified in Ireland.
