This report presents an evaluation of the Finglas/Cabra Drugs Prevention Programme called 'Awareness FC'. The programme is funded by the Finglas/Cabra Drugs Task Force, and has been devised and implemented by the Finglas Youth Service (Catholic Youth Care). This evaluation was carried from January to August 1999 using data collected on the effects of the programme, interviews with personnel involved in the management of the programme and relevant Irish and international research. The report concludes that student participation is a vital element of the programme, and that adapting to the needs of the community can ensure a successful prevention programme. A number of recommendations were made including the inclusion of Home-School-Community liaison teachers and parents in the programme, and the continuation of ongoing internal evaluation of the programme.
