This study aims to use changing patterns in on-trade availability to assess the impact of off-trade availability on violence. Using police recorded violent crime data, the following research questions are addressed:

  1. How did overall levels of alcohol-related violence, and alcohol-related domestic violence, change between periods of on-trade operation and closure?
  2. How did levels of alcohol-related violence, and alcohol-related domestic violence, as a proportion of violence overall, change between periods of on-trade operation and closure?
