In 2017, Kildare was below average for mortality for all ages due to alcohol related causes (54.4 per 100,000 population compared to a National rate of 58.6).

In 2017, the percentage of potential years of life lost (PYLL) from selected alcohol related causes was below average for females (258.4 per 100,000, National 298.2) and also below average for males (835.8 per 100,000 population, National 1006.1).

In 2017, Kildare was average for hospital admission rates for mental and behaviour disorders due to alcohol (88.9 per 100,000 population, National 83.7) and average for alcoholic liver disease (31.2 per 100,000, National 36.5).

In 2017, Kildare was below average for psychiatric in-patient rates for alcohol disorders for first admissions (8.7 per 100,000 population, National 9.2) and for all admissions ( 12.6 per 100,000, National 24.1).

In 2017, Kildare had below average alcohol treatment rates at 89.3 per 100,000 (National 153.2).

In January 2019, Kildare ranked 26th for the number of liquor licenses with 118.31 per 100,000 population (National 273.1).
