The Non Violent Resistance (NVR) model includes a brief, systemic and evidence-based response to CPVA to support disempowered and anxious parents/ carers. It aims to empower & support parents/ carers in preventing & responding to the abusive and controlling behaviour of some children and teenagers.
By taking part and implementing this training, you develops skill to help parents/ carers act as agents of change within their families. Building on your existing knowledge and skills as experienced practitioners, this training programme helps you further develop your confidence and skills in responding when parents/ carers feel fearful and anxious due to their child’s behaviour at home. The 2 day training programme in NVR raises awareness about the nature & extent of these kinds of problems and increases skills in responding to this problem. NVR enables parents/ carers to talk openly about a child’s abusive/ violent behaviour in their home, commit to non-violence & resistance, develop de-escalation skills, avail of a support network & develop effective responses to child to parent violence and abuse.
Practitioners whose work with families where parents/ carers may feel disempowered and sometimes anxious/ fearful due to the abusive, controlling and/ or violent behaviour of their son/daughter.
