Delivered over two days, this live programme will start a conversation about how trauma and adversity affects people and the appropriate responses service providers can implement and offer. It will also examine how others’ trauma experiences may affect those providing services – vicarious trauma - and examine how professionals, volunteers and peer workers can embrace a trauma informed approach, including self-care.
This Trauma Informed Practice training aims to help people working in the provision of care to become trauma aware. The programme does not train participants to become trauma therapists. The purpose of this blended learning training is to start a conversation about how trauma and adversity affects and has affected those who use the services we provide and the appropriate responses we can implement and offer; to reflect on how others’ trauma experiences may affect those of us providing services – vicarious trauma and; to examine how we, as professionals, volunteers and peer workers, can embrace a trauma informed approach, including self-care, within our practice.
