This report outlines activities for Merchants Quay Ireland (MQI) in 2002. The health promotion unit had a total of 24,058 visits in 2002 compared with a total of 20,262 in 2001. Of these visits, 678 were new clients. MQI also provided services to attempt to stabilise drug users, with staff offering treatment and services to over 200 clients. MQI also provided services for homeless people and almost 54,000 visits were made in 2002 to the Fáiltiú Resource Centre, an average of 149 per day made by more than 1,600 people. More than 1700 nursing interventions were made during the year with counselling also provided. MQI also participated in training and work programmes such as the Community Employment Scheme with FAS. This scheme provides training for those who are planning to work in the drugs field, with a total of 150 people participating in 2002.
