Nexus Research Co-operative. (1997) Profile of problem drug use in Finglas: implications for treatment and prevention strategies. Dublin: Finglas Drugs and AIDS Forum.
In response to concerns over increasing drug use in the Finglas area a study was undertaken to assess the extent and nature of the problem. A profile of the current opiate using population was performed by interviewing eighty-six users to assess the implications of their experiences for future treatment and prevention strategies. Community and voluntary groups were also interviewed to garner a comprehensive overview of the situation. Social statistics of opiate users, (education level, employment, gender, average age of users, average of habit forming etc.) are included, as a series of recommendations for the future to prevent the problem escalating.
