In preparing this document, the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Task Force outlines local responses which will reduce the number of young people experimenting with legal and illegal drugs. As a result it is hoped the number of problematic drug users will decrease. The Task Force proposes a combination of programmes including prevention and supply reduction initiatives invloving communities, schools and families. The Task Force also offers opportunities to divert drug users away from harmful behaviour and provide treatment services, linked to rehabilitation. This plan reviews the Task Force's existing plan and proposes a revised strategy using the suggested framework supplied by the National Drug Strategy Team.
