The sub-group consisted of representatives from various agencies and groups providing services to drug users in Clondalkin. The aims of the research initiated by the sub-group were to:

3. Match the specific needs of drug users to the existing childcare facilities.
4. Identify gaps that may exist between need and availability.

The report provides the results of consultation with parents, and makes a number of recommendations including the co-ordination and co-operation of drug treatment agencies/addiction services providing services to drug using parents; and a client centred approach to be adopted by all childcare service providers in order to ensure that the needs of drug users are met.
