The HSE Addiction Services fulfil and value the rights of all Service Users to access healthcare and endeavour to provide and support health and wellbeing needs where possible in their local community. The HSE Addiction Services strive to be flexible and adaptable in enabling access to and participation in mainstream health and social care for all communities, and to promote Service Users to voice their needs and exercise their rights to access quality health and social care in their communities. Our HSE Addiction Services team facilitate specialised and targeted approaches to address the health and social needs of our service users.

Overview of Rehabilitation & Integration Officer

The RI Officer is part of the HSE Addiction Service Multi-Disciplinary Clinical Team and provides a key working/ case management role. They liaise with other statutory and community services/projects who are involved in Service User care. The RI officers are available to assist SU manage their identified needs such as:

  • back to education
  • employment preparation
  • retraining
  • housing/accommodation information
  • application for medical cards etc
  • support and preparation for stabilisation, detox and rehabilitation.

The majority of the RI Officer’s work is one-to-one sessions, but they also deliver group-based programmes often as part of a multi-disciplinary or inter-agency collaboration. RI Officers are responsible for a particular catchment area and treatment/satellite clinics.
