Led by Sé McCormack, Detective Superintendent of the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, along with distinguished speakers including Rachel Christie from The European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA), Dean Acreman of Public Health Wales representing the WEDINOS Project, Sinéad McNamara - Senior Biochemist, HSE National Drug Treatment Centre Laboratory and Prof Eamon Keenan, National Clinical Lead of HSE Addiction Services and Clinical Professor in Addiction Studies at TCD (Dept of Public Health and Primary Care), among others.

In light of the overdose outbreaks in Dublin City Centre and Cork due to the emergence of N-Pyrrolidino protonitazene in November and December 2023 respectively, and the recent identification of a second batch in Dublin's drug market, the HSE National Social Inclusion Office developed this webinar to equip frontline service providers.

The webinar aimed to increase awareness among frontline service providers regarding the rise of synthetic opioids both in Europe and locally, shedding light on the diverse range of products coming into the EU market. It also provided invaluable insights into HSE guidelines, emphasising harm reduction and effective risk communication strategies to tackle the challenges posed by these emerging substances.
