There were 859 patients at the 6 SATUs in the Republic of Ireland in 2021, an increase of 127 from 2020 (when 732 patients attended). This is a 17% increase.
758 (88%) of incidents occurred in the Republic of Ireland with the greatest number of these incidents occurring in Dublin (36%).
Drugs and alcohol use pg. 13
- 128 (15%) were concerned that drugs (including alcohol) had been used to facilitate sexual assault.
- 267 (31%) had consumed no alcohol, in the 24 hours prior to the incident.
- When recorded, 638 (74%) had not taken any drugs, 131 (15%) had taken recreational drugs and 18 (2%) had taken both recreational and prescription drugs, in the 24 hours prior to the incident.
