Growing Up in Ireland (GUI) is the national longitudinal study of children, funded by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA) and managed by DCYA in association with the Central Statistics Office (CSO). The overarching aim of the study is to examine the factors that contribute to or undermine the well-being of children in Ireland, and to contribute to the setting of effective and responsive policies relating to children and to the design of services for children and families.
This Guidance Note highlights the value of data from Growing Up in Ireland (GUI), the national longitudinal study of children, and provides useful information about how to access relevant findings and data from the study. A unique feature of longitudinal research is that it follows the development of the same individuals over time, providing cross sectional data at each point of data collection.
