The Health Information and Quality Authority and the Chief Inspector of Social Services within the Regulation Directorate of HIQA, are responsible for regulating and monitoring the quality and safety of adult and children’s health and social care services across Ireland.
This is HIQA’s overview of its inspection and monitoring of children’s services during 2019. The report provides insight into the quality and safety of services for children, including foster care, children’s residential centres, child protection and welfare services, Oberstown Children Detention Campus and special care units. The report also reflects what children told us about their experience of these services. In 2019, we conducted 51 inspections children’s services.
