Doctors have welcomed the report published by the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health (JOHC), which supports introducing a minimum unit price of alcohol, labelling of alcohol products with health warnings and puts the regulation of alcohol advertising, including a ban on sports sponsorship by the drinks industry, on a statutory basis.

But while both welcoming the Pre-Legislative Scrutiny of the General Scheme of the Public Health (Alcohol) Bill 2015 report, the RCPI and IMO disagree on the timing of the introduction of the ban on sports sponsorship.....
