The issue of drug use in Ireland has been hitting the headlines recently, with the issue of drug users openly injecting in public becoming more prevalent.
The new Drugs Minister Aodhan Ó Ríordáin has not yet ruled out the prospect of introducing medically supervised injecting centres in Dublin’s city centre.
The newly appointed drugs minister is currently considering initiatives that are in place in other countries that could be included in the new National Drug Strategy.
However, as much as communities want to solve the drug problem in the towns and cities, many are still not happy with the idea of having an injecting clinic around the corner from their home.
