Meagan, Geraldine (2014) Novel approach to tackle alcohol problems. Forum, 31, (3), p. 23.
A recent survey shows that many GPs still feel unsure about their ability to effectively help patients who have issues with alcohol. Results of this survey will be published in 2014.
Although a high proportion of GPs think that they are not effective in helping patients to change their drinking habits, the survey is pointing to a large proportion using structured brief intervention in their practices and providing some form of counselling to help patients to reduce their drinking.
