The number of prisoners who requested to meet with the Visiting Committee during the year was 83 which is an average of 7 per meeting. All their problems were heard and dealt with satisfactorily as far as was possible to do so.

One of the most difficult problems for prisoners was in relation to family visits. Since the introduction of dogs to curb the introduction of drugs into the prison many visitors have failed to pass the dog test and therefore are only allowed screen visits. Many prisoners are unhappy with screen visits but we have to advise them that it is in the best interest of all prisoners that drugs are kept out of the prison....
