Countries are committing today to take further measures to reduce road deaths as part of the World Decade for Road Safety. Every year there are 1.3 million deaths and between 20 and 50 million injuries globally. Reducing the number of people driving while intoxicated and improving the safety of highways are some of the recommended measures.
