This document presents a comprehensive policy for drugs rehabilitation in Ireland. As part of the overall 'National drugs strategy 2001-2008', the report makes several key recommendations including an effective inter-agency approach, an expansion of the range of treatment options, building on the rehabilitative impact of Community Employment Schemes, as well as recommendations on wider issues (e.g. medical support, employment, education, housing, rehabilitation of offenders, childcare, families in the rehabilitation process and research). The report also proposes the setting up of a National Drug Rehabilitation Implementation Committee (NDRIC).
