This survey was carried by interviewing 1,000 young people from the ages 15-24, covering 100 sampling points throughout all constituencies in the Republic of Ireland. The interviewees were questioned on general attitudes to sexual activity, illicit drug taking, tobacco and alcohol. Eighty percent of those interviewed drank, with 39% having tried cannabis. Twelve (12) percent had tried ecstasy, with 9% admitting to trying cocaine and 10% for speed. Only 3% admitted taking heroin.
