The Government recognises that honielessness is a serious issue which needs to bc tackled urgently. With this in mind, the Government established the Cross Department Team on Homelessness to formulate a strategy and Lo develop a comprehensive Government response to this issue, incorporating all matters relating to homelessness including accommodation, health and welfare, education and preventative measures.
The Strategy involves the development of a holistic approach to the problem in every county. However, many of the recommendations deal particularly with Dublin (City and County), and also with the cities of Cork, Limerick and Galway due to the high incidence of homelessness in these areas.
