The County Waterford Community Based Drugs Initiative employed a community drugs worker in November 1999. This was funded by the SEHB and monitored by the Waterford Regional Youth Service. Local people are involved in the management and decision-making. The report outlines the work of the CWCBDI, including objective for the time period and how these goals were met. Its objectives were listed as increasing awareness of drug related issues, helping communities to identify and respond to local needs relating to drug misuse, developing and implementing community responses to drug misuse and developing strategies to reduce the demand for drugs in the different communities.
