533. Deputy Paul Murphy asked the Minister for Health the reason gambling is not covered as a primary addiction under the tier 4 national beds scheme; and if she will consider doing so. [22568/25]
Minister of State at the Department of Health: Budget 2023 provided €0.5m to expand harm-reduction services for adults and children experiencing difficulties with gambling and gaming. This included information and resources on problem gambling and gaming, including prevention, treatment and support services. Budget 2024 builds on this with a further €0.5m being provided.
As treatment in tier 4 services is a service matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the deputy directly, as soon as possible.
