The highest shares of young people smoking more than 20 cigarettes a day are seen in Bulgaria, Croatia and Hungary. Conversely, the lowest numbers are found in Luxembourg, Finland and Sweden.

The highest rate is observed in the Netherlands, where approximately half of the young population drinks alcohol every week. In contrast, the lowest frequencies of weekly alcohol consumption among young people are in Cyprus, Latvia, Lithuania and Romania. Furthermore, about 2 in 10 young Europeans never consume alcohol. Within the EU, the highest proportion of young people who never drink alcohol is found in Italy, followed by Bulgaria and Romania.
