Defines what drug treatment courts (DTCs) are, situates them in Canada’s current substance use environment and reviews issues related to outcomes. Examines what evidence exists and the quality of existing evidence to see if DTCs meet their intended purpose of reducing criminal behaviour and substance use. Explores factors that influence the health and well-being of people who use or used drugs, and outlines options to improve DTC programs.
