  • Inteview with Paula Leonard, CEO of Alcohol Forum Ireland, about the landmark study Alcohol Forum Ireland and the Global Brain Health Institute launched in late September 2023 about families raising children with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder or FASD. The findings of this study suggest that developments in several key areas would improve the lives of caregivers and people with FASD in Ireland. These include development of specialist caregiver support, development of a national diagnostic pathway for FASD, access to FASD informed services and increased awareness about the risks of prenatal alcohol exposure in all sectors of Irish society. Raising awareness at a population level and in the medical community about the risks associated with consuming alcohol when pregnant is of crucial importance according to Paula.   • Interview with Monika Kobylarska - the new Alcohol Related Brain Injury (ARBI) Resource Officer with the Alcohol Forum - about her job and the matter of Alcohol Related Brain Injury in general and the different types of it. ARBI describes a broad spectrum of different alcohol related brain injuries. Monika and the Alcohol Forum are calling on the Irish Minister for Health to establish an Alcohol Related Brain Injury (ARBI) Rehabilitation and Recovery Centre in the Republic of Ireland similar to the centre that was established in Belfast in 2021.
