This fact sheet provides up-to-date information and guidance on the links between alcohol and a range of cancers, including some of the most common types, such as female breast cancer and colorectal cancer, for those involved in designing and implementing policies that affect public health. It sets out policy options to reduce the alcohol-attributable cancer burden within the WHO European Region, making clear that there is strong evidence that the implementation of cost-effective alcohol control policies including pricing policies (or policies that increase the price of alcohol) will achieve this. The fact sheet was launched as part of the European Awareness Week on Alcohol Related Harm, 2020.
