The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland Policy Group on Alcohol has supported calls from Members of Parliament (MPs) comprising the British All-Party Parliamentary Group on Alcohol Misuse for the introduction of health warnings on alcohol products.

Urging the Irish Minister for Health Dr Leo Varadkar to prioritise the introduction of the Public Health (Alcohol) Bill, the Group’s Chairman, Prof Frank Murray, Consultant Gastroenterologist, lamented: “Unfortunately many people still remain unaware of some of the health effects of alcohol, for example the cancer risk associated with even ‘safe limits’ of consumption.....
