Policies for a variety of workplace issues around the areas of safety, sexual harassment and other matters are increasingly common, and a policy — or employee assistance programme — is now required to tackle alcohol problems in the workplace, addiction counsellor Rolande Anderson believes.

Anderson will address the forthcoming IMT GP Practice Management Seminar in Dublin on April 12.

Eighth year
The event — with the theme of ‘Managing your Practice in a Changing and Challenging Environment’ — marks the eighth year Irish Medical Times has organised its popular GP seminars. The upcoming event in the Herbert Park Hotel has been specifically tailored to reflect the continued challenging economic times facing the profession, from both reductions in fees and a possible new contract, to outside pressures from Revenue, IT challenges and developments, HR problems, and new national standards for patient safety, along with expert advice on dealing with alcohol issues in the workplace.
