Acute and chronic cases of hepatitis B are notifiable under the Infectious Diseases Regulations 1981.

Risk factor data were available for 74% (n=14) of the acute cases notified in Q1and Q2 2016.Of those, sixty four percent (n=9) were likely to have been sexually acquired. Five of these cases were men who have sex with men (MSM) and four were heterosexual. The most likely risk factor was reported as injecting drug use for one further case, as “other” for two and “no known risk factor despite follow up for two.
