Drunk drivers and people who've been convicted after a bout of 'road rage' will reportedly be forced to go to rehab under new traffic laws.

The Irish Daily Mail claims the legislation due to be brought in next year will target repeat offenders in particular.

It's believed some dangerous drivers will also have to visit Emergency Departments to witness they type of injuries crash victims sustain.

However the Road Safety Authority reportedly says the measures won't mean drivers can avoid a criminal conviction
