A separate stand-alone Health and Wellbeing Agency will be established from January 2015. It will continue and build on the work with other relevant sectors to produce inter-sectoral plans to address risk factors and social determinants of health. The Agency will move forward integrated initiatives to promote for example, healthier diet and physical activity. It will build on the Substance Misuse Strategy to reduce the level of alcohol use and misuse across the population. It will also implement tobacco policy with a view to making Ireland a tobacco free society.
