The aim of this guidance is to provide GPs with an understanding as to how specialist mental health services manage referrals of people with depression. This guidance also provides a basic guide to the treatment of depression and has been developed as a collaborative initiative between the Irish College of General Practitioners and the Irish College of Psychiatrists.
