This section lists the 50 countries with the highest oesophageal cancer rates in the world.

Mongolia has the highest rate of oesophageal cancer in the world. Ireland has the joint 36th highest oesophageal cancer rate and every year 5.9 of every 100,000 people in Ireland develop oesophageal cancer.

Scientists estimate about 75% of oesophageal cancer cases could be prevented through eating more non-startchy vegetables and fruits, drinking less alcohol and maintaining a healthy weight.
