Few would dispute the reality that Ireland has a problematic relationship with alcohol. Evidence suggests that there has been a significant increase in alcohol consumption in Ireland in recent years, combined with the emergence of a binge drinking culture here. Representative national information on students was provided some years ago on this issue via the College Lifestyle Attitude & Nutrition (CLAN) survey. However, there is a dearth of up to date local information on this issue.
This study was designed to remedy this deficit by providing current information on the lifestyles and health status of a sample of third-level students in Limerick City.
