Ireland blazed something of a trail in introducing a ban on smoking in the workplace in 2002. While that measure (introduced by current Fianna Fáil supremo Micheál Martin) changed the face of many of Ireland’s public spaces overnight, a plan to ban public smoking was actually initiated as far back as 1986 according to papers released under the 30-year rule by the National Archives.......
