A PLAN for a night pub ambulance has been put on hold after it fell out of favour with local vintners.

The night medics scheme had been due to launch last September in Galway.

The private venture was to operate between 9pm and 4am, seven days a week, funded by a number of publicans.

However, after criticism from the Galway City Vintners Association, its backers, Cara Ambulances, deferred the scheme.

The vintners said they feared it could give a bad impression of the city.
