Each of the scale items represents a different situation in which a drug user might be tempted to use drugs. The DASES is a relatively brief and easy to use measure of self-efficacy. It is useful as an outcome measure because it has been demonstrated to predict subsequent drug use. There is evidence supporting the reliability and validity of the scale, although its use has been restricted to young multiple drug users (aged 16-30).</mods:abstract><mods:classification authority="lcc">Drugs and alcohol recovery</mods:classification><mods:classification authority="lcc">Coping skills</mods:classification><mods:classification authority="lcc">Motivation</mods:classification><mods:classification authority="lcc">Emotion</mods:classification><mods:classification authority="lcc">Attitude and behaviour</mods:classification><mods:classification authority="lcc">Treatment outcome</mods:classification><mods:classification authority="lcc">Risk assessment</mods:classification><mods:classification authority="lcc">Social context</mods:classification><mods:classification authority="lcc">Context encouraging drugs and alcohol use</mods:classification><mods:classification authority="lcc">Context discouraging drugs and alcohol use</mods:classification><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8061">1991</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Teaching Resource</mods:genre></mods:mods>
