        abstract = {There are potential health risks associated with the use of Image and Performance Enhancing drugs but no research has reliably shown what adverse side-effects people actually experience. There is currently  no reliable way of estimating how many people use these drugs. This makes providing services and advice for this group extremely difficult. It is hoped that this survey will help us to better understand patterns of use and what side-effects people experience and how they are treated. The research programme is designed to better understand the longer term implications of use and to highlight emerging trends in the nature of use.}
