This is a classification from the Coding Manual of the Central Statistics Board which was used in the coding of occupations in the 1981 Cenus of population. Thse social class category includes each person over the age of 15 who is at work, for payment or profit, and is decided by his/her occupation, or in some cases, a combination of occupation and employment status.
