Domville House is a community-based addiction centre based in Ballymun that provides a multidisciplinary approach to prevention, treatment and rehabilitation. It promotes a drug-free lifestyle, has developed an outreach service for reaching local drug misusers and encourages them to move towards a more normal existence. Since its creation in 1996 to 1999, the centre has admitted 428 people and discharged 182. The mean age for those seeking treatment was 26, with a gender proportion of 34% female and 66% male. Eighty five percent of those attending Domville House were unemployed, and 91% were heroin users, 73% of whom were intravenous drug users.
