A Project in Substance Abuse Prevention was conducted among 475 first year pupils in a group of four neighbouring Post-primary schools. Two other schools in the vicinity acted as a Control Group. The pupils' use of and attitude to cigarettes, alcohol and other drugs was measured by use of a questionnaire administered to all the pupils during the first week of the school year in September 1987 and again at the end of May 1988.
