The Mid West Regional Drugs Task Force (MWRDTF) was established under the National Drugs Strategy 2001 – 2008 to research, develop, implement and monitor a co-ordinated response to illicit drug use at regional level, based on evidence of what is effective.
The Task Force is responsible for ensuring the development of a co-ordinated response to tackling drugs problems in counties Clare, Limerick, North Tipperary and Limerick City.
The MWRDTF has available to it, a one-off funding pool for treatment initiatives and rehabilitation initiatives for substance misusers in the Midwest Region.
Agencies applying for this funding pool must have a track record in the area. The objectives of the initiative and how they will be achieved should be clearly stated. The initiatives should fit with the interim National Drugs Strategy and the objectives of the Mid West Regional Drugs Task Force and meet identified gaps. Advise how the funds will be used noting that monies must be spent by Dec 2012. Funding cannot be applied retrospectively.
