"Understanding The Drug Free Option" & Canal Communities Drug Awareness Week. (10 Apr 2008)

The Canal Communities Local Drugs Task Force will hold its drug awareness week from the 14th to 20th April. An array of relevant information will be available to anyone interested in hearing and learning more about drugs issues, services and options.

The week will consist of an opening launch by the Minister, Pat Carey in the Bluebell Community Centre. Food music and information will be available. At the heart of the opening there will be an art exhibition which can be visited throughout the week at selected venues. There will be coffee mornings, holistic evenings, plus alcohol and drug free social evenings. Timetable can be gotten from Elaine at (01) 620 6455. On the Thursday 17th April there will be A Drug Free Seminar. Three speakers are invited to speak about the drug free projects they run. Gerry Mac Aleenan from N.I.   • To raise awareness of the drug free option
  • To have a conversation on the challenges and opportunities for the further rolling out of services and supports to people choosing to explore this option.
  • To name what is helpful to the option and the continuum of care required.
We hope this seminar will of use to those who are considering detox from all types of drugs and those who work to support them. All are welcome.
