Gardaí are conducting an investigation following the deaths of six heroin users in Dublin, possibly as a result of contaminated heroin. Four heroin users were pronounced dead at the Mater hospital, one at Beaumont and another at St Vincent's hospital.

Gardaí and the National Disease Surveillance Centre have urged drug users seek medical attention if they developed symptoms such as blurred vision, speech paralysis and breathing problems.
